Biography

Brien Blakely is a versatile television host, actor, and award-winning journalist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He began his career hosting over 70 episodes of Weekend Warriors on HGTV and starred in BattleDome. His Hollywood credits include appearances as a news reporter on The X-Files, The Practice, and Roswell, as well as hosting E! News Daily, The National Enquirer TV Show, and Weekend Warriors. He has also made guest appearances on various series, often joking about still cashing residual checks. Transitioning to journalism, Brien is now an anchor for Queen City News in Charlotte, where he has earned multiple Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Awards. Known for his strong work ethic and community involvement, he covers major stories across the Carolinas, including politics, weather, and breaking news. Prior to Charlotte, he worked in markets such as Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Bristol, Virginia. Outside of the newsroom, Brien is active in the community-hosting charity events, serving on local boards, and leading the annual CMPD Toy Drive. He also runs ‘Find A Fugitive,’ a public safety initiative with Crime Stoppers. A graduate of Western Kentucky University, Brien was a drafted baseball player by the Cincinnati Reds and worked in the Atlanta Braves front office before pursuing a career in television. He occasionally provides guest commentary for the Charlotte Knights on WMYT. A native of Kentucky, Brien loves the Charlotte area, describing it as the perfect size-big enough for excitement, small enough to feel like home. He and his wife, Ava, have a son named Wes and a Shih Tzu named Kobe. When not working, he enjoys golf and hosting barbecues.
