Biography

Ronald Biggs was born on August 8, 1929 in Stockwell, Lambeth, London, England, UK. He was an actor and writer, known for Prisoner of Rio (1988), Die Toten Hosen & Ronnie Biggs: Carnival in Rio (Punk Was) (1991) and The Seven Million Dollar Fugitive (1989). He was married to Raimunda de Castro and Charmian Brent. He died on December 18, 2013 in Barnet, London, England, UK.

One of the train robbers involved in the "Great Train Robbery" of 1963. He escaped from prison in 1965 and was on the run for years until settling in Brazil. In 2001 he finally gave himself up.

A series of strokes, heart attacks and pneumonia left him confined to a wheelchair and completely reliant on the nursing home. He was unable to speak and used a spelling board to communicate. He died in the Carlton Court Care Home in Barnet (London, England, UK).

He had 3 sons with his first wife, Charmian: Nicholas Grant (born July 23, 1960); Christopher Dean (born March 24, 1963); and Farley Paul (born April 21, 1966). He also had a son, Michael Biggs (born August 16, 1974) with Raimunda de Castro. She eventually became his second wife (then as Raimunda Rothen) in 2002. His eldest son, Nicholas died in a car crash in Melbourne (Australia) on January 5, 1971.
