Peter Burton was born on April 4, 1921 in Bromley, Kent, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Dr. No (1962), A Clockwork Orange (1971) and The Avengers (1961). He was married to Lillias Walker. He died on November 27, 1989 in Chelsea, London, England, UK.

He was the first actor to portray 'Q' in the James Bond film series (although he was billed as Major Boothroyd). He was unavailable for From Russia with Love (1963) and was replaced by Desmond Llewelyn, who played the character till his death in 1999.

Desmond Llewelyn stated in an interview that he and Burton never got to meet.
