Biography

Jean-Claude Bernardet was born on August 2, 1936 in Charleroi, Belgium. He was an actor and writer, known for Através da Janela (2000), A Starry Sky (1996) and Case of the Naves Brothers (1967). He died on July 12, 2025 in São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.

Professor at UnB and, later, at USP, where he retired in 2004, Bernardet played an important role in the training of critics and filmmakers.

He arrived in Brazil in 1949 from Belgium.

Essayist, teacher, screenwriter and actor.

Filmmaker, screenwriter, author, actor and film critic, Bernardet was born in Belgium and moved to Brazil in the late 1940's. He became a Brazilian citizen in the 1960's.
