Biography

Rosemarie Bergmans was born on March 31, 1944 in Ayeneux, Wallonia, Belgium. She was an actress and casting director, known for Johan en de Alverman (1965), Het gekroonde paard (1976) and Kapitein Zeppos (1964). She was married to Frank Aendenboom. She died on May 10, 2026 in Flanders, Belgium.

She played the lead role in the Flemish film "De potloodmoorden" (1982). Furthermore, Bergmans played the role of Cecile in the film "Pauline & Paulette", and had guest roles in "Heterdaad", "Terug naar Oosterdonk" and "Deman". She also had an important role in another BRT youth series, "Circus Rondau" (1977), as circus director Silvia Rondau.

Rosemarie Bergmans was a Belgian actress. Her most famous role is that of Rosita de Bobadila in the Belgian youth series "Johan en de Alverman" (1965), where she met her now ex-husband Frank Aendenboom, who played Johan in the series, and his character was also in love with her.

The actress grew up in Antwerp with a Czech mother. Only later would Rosemarie discover, through a newspaper clipping, that her father, the Antwerp working-class boy Jan Bergmans, was a collaborator who was executed after the liberation when she was still a baby. Because the loss of a father weighed heavily on her, the actress enlisted writer Eric Bauwens to clarify his story in the book "Het verdriet van Rosemarie" (Rosemarie's Sorrow).

In 2017, the actress testified in the Canvas series 'Children of Collaboration' about her father, who was executed shortly after the liberation of Belgium.

Bergmans discovered that she was born in a 'nursery' for racially pure Aryan children, a Nazi project called Lebensborn. She turned out to be one of the estimated 15,000 children born as part of the experiment. Bergmans recounts this in a moving book about her family history.
