Mark Berger was born on May 14, 1943 in San Francisco, California, USA. He is known for The English Patient (1996), Amadeus (1984) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).

First person to hold the record for most lifetime Academy Award nominations that all resulted in wins (4). At the Oscar ceremony held on 2 March 2025, this mark was equaled by visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert and by filmmaker Sean Baker, who won 4 awards for the Best Picture winner Anora (2024).
