She was married to Gabriele Tinti. She died on 9 October 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She was one of the main stars of the Brazilian &quot;Cinema Novo&quot;. She had also a career in Italian cinema.

She is cited as being the first mainstream actress to be seen completely nude in a mainstream movie, the Brazilian movie <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/title/tt0055821/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">The Hustlers (1962)</a>.
