In 1987 Joana left Romania at age 15 and traveled to Venezuela. She continued her studies in Caracas until
an model agency invited her to work as a model and her natural beauty
landed her a career on 'the catwalk'. Next, came television and she
acted in the soap opera "Pecado de Amor" for 18 months. In 1997, her
agent sent some pictures to New York, where she was required for an
important make up franchise. During her stay in New York Joana took
dramatic art classes at Susan Grace Academy. One day she was invited to
host 'Lo Nuestro Awards' ceremony and afterwards more acting work came
her way. In 1998, she migrated to Mexico, where she began a career in telenovelas, primarily playing villainous roles. She obtained Mexican citizenship shortly after arriving in the country. In 2012, she decided to step away from acting and started a YouTube channel focused on personal topics and relaxation. She married Javier Vargas in a ceremony at the Orthodox Cathedral of San Pedro y San Pablo in Huixquilucan, Estado de México.
