- Wilhelm Bendow was born on September 29, 1884 in Einbeck, Germany. He was an actor, known for Ein Sommernachtstraum (1925), Die Fledermaus (1923) and Tanz mit dem Kaiser (1941). He died on May 29, 1950 in Einbeck, Germany.
- German humorist and character comedian, the son of a brewery owner. On stage from the early 1900's, popular in revue, operetta, radio and cabaret. In the 1930's, leader of his own cabaret troupe in Berlin. In films from 1913, often seen as naive, bespectacled, whiny-voiced little men, saved from being victimised by guile and a quick-wit.
- A late honor was given to him in 1970 when the humorist Loriot drew an animation film to Wilhelm Bendow and Franz Otto Krügers sketch "Auf der Rennbahn". Everyone knows the remark "Ja, wo laufen sie denn".
