  • German humorist and character comedian, the son of a brewery owner. On stage from the early 1900's, popular in revue, operetta, radio and cabaret. In the 1930's, leader of his own cabaret troupe in Berlin. In films from 1913, often seen as naive, bespectacled, whiny-voiced little men, saved from being victimised by guile and a quick-wit.
  • A late honor was given to him in 1970 when the humorist Loriot drew an animation film to Wilhelm Bendow and Franz Otto Krügers sketch "Auf der Rennbahn". Everyone knows the remark "Ja, wo laufen sie denn".
  • He was already regular engaged for silent movies where he normally impersonated humorous roles which increased his popularity.
  • The actor Wilhelm Bendow was born as Wilhelm Emil Boden in Einbeck. He belonged to the most popular comedians of his time who knew how to fill the audience with enthusiasm from the stage.
