Biography

Robert Benavides was raised in Chicago Illinois. He is an Emmy & Grammy Nominated Filmmaker.

A member of The International Cinematographers Guild, his early work began in Music Videos working with artists such as Cypress Hill, DMX, Noreaga, Liz Phair, T.I., Kings Of Leon and many more. He later transitioned into commercials, feature films and documentaries. Most recently Robert Served as the DP for "Kevin Hart & Chris Rock: Headliners Only" a Netflix Original Documentary. "Righteous Thieves" is his latest feature film for Lionsgate. He was the DP on the Award Winning, Grammy Nominated Documentary "Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest" which premiered at The Sundance Film Festival , Tribeca Festival and won the LA Film Festival's Audience Award for Best Documentary. Robert was the DP on "Hip Hop Uncovered" a critically acclaimed Documentary Series for FX now streaming on Hulu.

Robert resides in Los Angeles, is Colombian -American and Speaks Fluent Spanish. He is a Member Of The International Cinematographers Guild.
