Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Margot Benacerraf was born on 14 August 1926 in Caracas, Venezuela. She was a director and writer, known for Araya (1959), Reverón (1952) and Madame Cinéma (2018). She died on 29 May 2024 in Caracas, Venezuela.

Founded the Nacional Film Library of Venezuela in 1966 and was its director for three years consecutively.

Was a member of the board of directors of Ateneo de Caracas.

In 2019 the Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts (VAEA) awarded Benacerraf the Paez Medal of Art 2019 for her life work.

Was one of the first Latin American filmmakers to study at IDHEC (Institut des hautes études cinématographiques) in Paris.

In 1991, with the help of the writer and patron of the Latin American cinema Gabriel García Márquez, created Latin Fundavisual, the foundation in charge of promoting Latin American audio-visual art in Venezuela.
