Biography

Emmy Nominated Composer ROGER BELLON was born in Neuilly-Sur-Seine, France. He began his musical journey at age five with piano and later earned his Bachelor Of Music Composition degree from the Berklee College of Music and completed postgraduate studies in Composition and Conducting at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot.

He began his film-scoring career in Paris composing music for television, documentaries and theatre. He has worked with writers and directors such as Joël Santoni and Jean Curtelin and actors Michel Galabru, Stéphane Audran, Guy Marchand, Mort Schuman and Caroline Cellier.

Moving to Los Angeles, Roger has scored over three hundred television episodes including the award-winning cult series HIGHLANDER-THE SERIES, as well as numerous award-winning television movies and mini-series. (clx for credits)

Theatre being Roger's passion he has created scores to many plays including MILT & GRACE (Aperture Gallery, New York 2019), THE STONE WITCH (Westside Theatre, New York 2018) for director Steve Zuckerman and THE AUSCHWITZ VOLUNTEER: CAPTAIN WITOLD PILCKI for Polish actor-director, Marek Probosz, which premiered at the United Solo Festival at Theatre Row, New York, 2018. His opera HIGHLANDER: A CELTIC OPERA (co-composed with Harlan Collins) received its radio premiere on Radio Aktywne in Poland.

Always orchestrates and conducts his own compositions. His masterful blending of modern sounds with traditional orchestral and vocal colors produces his own unique style.

Little known fact about Highlander: The Series and a few of the great musicians that played on it. Rusty Anderson (guitars) has been a part of Paul McCartney's band touring the world. Jerry Goodman (violin) was a part of legendary fusion band "The Mahavishnu Orchestra". Bunny Brunel (bass) was brought to America from France by Chick Corea and has played with Chick, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams and others. His group "CAB" was nominated for a grammy in 2004. Brian Auger (organ) was founder of the classic 60s rock group "Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll & The Trinity. Laura Creamer (vocals) has sang with Bob Seager, Don Henley (The Eagles) and is now part of Kid Rock's band.

His composition teacher, Pierre Petit, had a tray of exotic liquors from around the world next to his piano. At the start of each lesson Pierre would insist that they taste one of them before beginning.

Music is like cooking. The composition is the recipe and the orchestrations are the spices.
