- Baxt suffered from asthma, which worsened over time and impacted his acting career, as well as bronchitis. Around 1997, he came to California and stayed with his father and stepmother, but their cat triggered an allergic reaction that hospitalized him, although he managed to recover. This was the last time his family ever saw him in person, only exchanging letters between him and his half-brother until their father's passing in 2002.
- Despite initially having no interest in opera, he was offered a scholarship to study opera at McGill University. Instead, he declined it in favor of the School of Dramatic Arts in Montreal. He would busk to help pay for his education and was supposedly considered a gifted student.
- Moved with his family to Montreal when he was three-and-a-half, but he was raised alongside his sister by their mother. Their father was mainly absent, but reconnected into the younger Baxt's adulthood years after fathering his half-brother.
- His half-brother, Josh Baxt, is the operator of Baxt Communications in San Diego, California and a writer not only in tech, but also of plays and novels, affiliated at least one time with the San Diego Science Writers Association.
- Was resentful of modern technology by especially 21st century standards; he only got an answering machine so as to avoid missing calls about auditions.
