Roy Battersby was born on April 20, 1936 in Willesden, London, England, UK. He was a director and producer, known for Red Mercury (2005), Winter Flight (1984) and The Home Front (1983). He was married to Judy Loe, Audrey Chaney and Elizabeth Leicester. He died on January 10, 2024 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Also political activist, member of The Workers Revolutionary Party's central committee (1970-80).

In the 1970s, he was a left-wing radical activist with the Workers' Revolutionary Party (WRP), which led him to be blacklisted at the BBC.
