Biography

John Bates was born on January 11, 1935 in Ponteland, Northumberland, UK. He was an actor, known for The Avengers (1961), The Final Programme (1973) and Fiona (1977). He died on June 5, 2022 in Wales, UK.

His death announcement in The Telegraph said "John (Fashion Designer) passed away peacefully at home on 5th June 2022 after a long and painful bloody-minded battle with cancer".

He used the name Jean Varon for his work as part of the boutique scene in London in the 1960s.
