Biography

Palmira Bastos was born on May 30, 1875 in Aldeia Gavinha, Alenquer, Portugal. She was an actress, known for O Destino (1922) and As Árvores Morrem de Pé (1966). She was married to António de Sousa Bastos and António de Almeida Cruz. She died on May 10, 1967 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Her parents, Pedro Echavarría Martinez and Maria das Dores, were Spanish-born itinerant actors. Her first husband was a theater businessman.

Had a daughter named Amélia Bastos.

She was one of the greatest Portuguese theater actresses of the XXth century.
