Wrote the lyrics for the songs in Rankin/Bass specials.
He was cremated at Clinton Funeral Home in Cold Spring, New York. Its funeral directors subsequently buried his urn at Wellwood Cemetery in West Babylon, New York. His public memorial service was held at a later date.
He and Arthur Rankin Jr. created over 15 Christmas specials, as well as three Easter specials and one Thanksgiving special.
