Biography

Roger Barton

Mini bio

  • After a six-year creative consulting deal with Walt Disney Studios, Roger Barton, ACE returns to his freelance career as the studio scales back its 2026 live-action slate.

Roger began his editorial career in documentaries and television movies, including the Emmy Award-winning Indictment: The McMartin Trial. He transitioned to feature films as Associate Editor on Titanic in 1997, the decade's highest-grossing release.

He continued building his career at Jerry Bruckheimer Films on Armageddon and Gone in 60 Seconds, before going on to edit multiple films for Michael Bay - Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys II, The Amityville Horror, The Island, and five installments of the Transformers franchise.

Roger has collaborated with many of Hollywood's leading filmmakers, including George Lucas (Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith), the Wachowskis (Speed Racer), Jim Sheridan (Get Rich or Die Tryin'), and Joe Carnahan (The Grey, The A-Team).

Beginning in 2013, Roger edited several major releases for Skydance Entertainment, including G.I. Joe: Retaliation, World War Z, and Terminator Genisys. In 2016 he reunited with Jerry Bruckheimer for Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

In 2017, while editing Godzilla: King of the Monsters for Legendary Pictures, Roger began using Evercast - the remote collaboration platform he co-founded. When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down Hollywood, Evercast became an essential tool for filmmakers worldwide and was recognized with a 2020 Engineering Emmy Award.

From 2019 through 2025, Roger worked exclusively with Walt Disney Studios as a creative editorial consultant across its live-action theatrical and Disney+ slate, including recent titles such as Moana and Lilo & Stitch.

Roger married Jackie Volker in 2022, joining their families and seven children. His son Aidan appeared on film as both Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia as infants in Star Wars: Episode III.

In his spare time, Roger is developing a feature biopic about Medal of Honor recipient William J. Crawford.
