Biography

José Bartel was born on February 24, 1932 in Lille, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. He was a composer and actor, known for The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964), The Jungle Book (1967) and Spermula (1976). He was married to Norma. He died on January 26, 2010 in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, France.

In 1959, he recorded with his Orchestra the French song "Donnez-moi tout ça" which was written in 1955 by Henri Betti (music) and André Hornez (lyrics).

Sang the role of Woody Mahoney on the French language version of the 1968 Hollywood musical "Finian's Rainbow" (La vallee du bonheur" ) released in France in1969, including a duet with Petula Clark on " Et cet or,et ce feu" (Old devil moon).
