Luiz Carlos Barreto was born on 20 May 1928 in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil. He was a producer and writer, known for The House of Sand (2005), Assault on the Pay Train (1962) and Four Days in September (1997). He was married to Lucy Barreto. He died on 22 July 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
