- Allen Baron was born on April 14, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is a director and writer, known for Blast of Silence (1961), The Immortal (1969) and Terror in the City (1964).
- With the 2008 release of the film noire classic Blast of Silence (1961) by Criterion, Baron is enjoying a resurgence of popularity. Once hailed as the new 'Orson Welles (I)' upon the film's release, he never achieved the fame or popularity he deserved as the film was never supported by the distributors or Hollywood studios. Baron nevertheless went on to achieve great success directing a variety of network television shows in a career that spanned four decades.
- Met producer/cinematographer Merrill S. Brody in kindergarten. The two went on to make the Noir cult classic, Blast of Silence (1961), together.
- Dropped out of high school at the age of 16.
- At age 19, Baron enrolled at the School of Visual Arts in New York to study illustration. For several years he worked odd jobs, drawing for comic book publishers and driving a taxi.
- Took his first acting class at the age of 25.
