Spent the last several years of his life in an apartment building in North Hollywood, CA. Although he and ex-wife Susan Hayward went through a bitter, contentious divorce in 1954 that dragged on for quite some time, friends who knew him during the latter part of his life said that he had photos of Susan all over the walls of his apartment, framed photos of her on desks and tables and had said many times that he had never gotten over the divorce and wished that it had never happened.

Was involved in a bitter custody battle with Susan Hayward for their twin boys, Timothy Barker and Gregory Barker, born on 2/19/45.

Had a daughter in 1955, Morgana Ruth, with Yvonne Doughty.

Leading man in Hollywood "B" films of the '40s and '50s.

Signed by producer Walter Wanger in 1935, initially billed as "Philip Barker".
