Trivia

He was made Soloist with American Ballet Theatre in 1979 and Principal Dancer in 1984. In 1994, he became Assistant to the Artistic Staff.

When his wife Julie Kent was appointed to Artistic Director of the Washington Ballet, she made him Associate Artistic Director.

He began his ballet training at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the School of American Ballet, and also studied at the Leningrad-Kirov Ballet School in Leningrad.
