Biography

Jadwiga Baranska was born on October 21, 1935 in Lódz, Lódzkie, Poland. She was an actress and writer, known for Hrabina Cosel (1968), Nights and Days (1975) and Chopin: Desire for Love (2002). She was married to Jerzy Antczak. She died on October 24, 2024 in the USA.

She and her husband, Jerzy Antczak, have a son named Mikolaj Antczak (b.1964).

She began her career in theatre on the stage of the Classical Theatre in the years 1959-1966. She then played at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw until 1972.

Jadwiga Baranska was a Polish actress and screenwriter.

She won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her role in Nights and Days at the 26th Berlin International Film Festival in 1976.

In 1958 she graduated from the State Drama School in Lódz. In 2013 she celebrated the 55th anniversary of her artistic work in Warsaw.
