Biography

Don Backy was born on August 21, 1939 in Santa Croce sull'Arno, Tuscany, Italy. He is an actor and composer, known for The Violent Four (1968), Avanti! (1972) and Satyricon (1969).

Was a successful singer/songwriter in Italy during the 1960s. He was part of the music group "Clan" founded with singer/actor/director Adriano Celentano.

One son Emiliano.

Thanks to the song "La storia di Frankie Ballan" (inspired by American folk singers), Aldo Caponi attracted the interest of Adriano Celentano's record label Clan Celentano, that put him under contract. Having adopted the stage name Don Backy, he soon became a prominent figure in the label, achieving several hits between 1962 and 1967, notably "Amico", "L'amore", "Serenata", "L'immensità" and "Poesia".

Began his professional career in 1951 under the stage name 'Agaton'.
