- Frédéric Back was born on April 8, 1924 in Saarbrücken, Germany. He was a director, known for The Man Who Planted Trees (1987), The Mighty River (1993) and Crac (1980). He was married to Ghylaine Paquin. He died on December 24, 2013 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

- -Worked from 1952 at Radio-Canada in Montréal (Province of Quebec, Canada) in the decoration department making models of ships and villages for the 'D'Iberville' and other series. Also worked from 1962 in the animation department of that public TV and made shorts that won Oscars and other prizes.
- -He was one of the first people in Canada who worked in associations in favor of ecology which is the theme of his most famous film 'L'Homme qui plantait les arbres'.
- -He did the Stained glass mural in Montreal's Place des Arts metro station about the history of music in Montréal (province of Quebec, Canada).
