Biography

In 1970, Ayukawa formed the band Sunhouse as its guitarist and leader. In 1978, he founded the rock band Sheena & The Rokkets with his wife, Sheena, as the vocalist. He also briefly joined YMO as a guitarist. The band's second album, Vacuum Pack (1979), featuring the hit song You May Dream, achieved great success. Active with Sheena & The Rokkets until 2023, Ayukawa released numerous albums. Renowned for playing a 1969 Les Paul Custom throughout his career, he left a lasting legacy as a rock icon in Japan's music scene. He also known as model and actor. He was an actor and composer, known for Chinpira (1996), Gyaku (2012) and Waruboro (2007). He died on 29 January 2023 in Tokyo, Japan.
