Steven Avila is an award-winning sound editor and sound designer who has worked on hundreds of film and television projects for over 25 years. He is a native of Los Angeles and received his degree in Film and Television from Cal State Fullerton. Steven got his start as a sound effects editor in the world of independent film and later contributed to projects at both Warner Brothers and Sony Pictures Studios.
Steven’s passion lies in sound design and effects. Telling stories through sound is what he does best. Through deliberate sound choices and placement, his goal is to create a symphony of mood and emotions that add depth to the story. He is a fan of horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy films.
Since 2017, Steven Avila has directed the Motion Picture Sound Editor’s Golden Reel Awards show. This is a live awards show celebrating the art and craft of sound editing in film, television and gaming. The show is held in Los Angeles and is attended by about 1000 people every year.
