Karen Elizabeth Austin (aka Karen Austin) is an American actress known for her work in television and film during the late 1970s through the 2000s. She gained recognition for her role as Lana Wagner on the sitcom Night Court in 1984 and appeared in notable films such as Summer Rental (1985) alongside John Candy, The Ladies Club (1986), and Far From Home (1989). Austin also guest-starred on popular TV series including Happy Days, Dallas, The Rockford Files, and St. Elsewhere, maintaining a steady presence in the industry across several decades.

Austin pursued formal education in dramatic literature, earning a master's degree from Northwestern University. Her career began with television appearances in the late 1970s, including a role on Happy Days in 1978, followed by her first feature film role in the inspirational drama Fish Hawk (1979). She was cast in a leading role in the adventure series The Quest (1982) before joining Night Court. Despite a prominent part on Night Court, she departed after 10 episodes. Throughout the 1980s, she balanced film and television roles, later continuing to guest star on various TV shows into the 2000s.
