Biography

Ellen Auerbach was born on May 20, 1906 in Karlsruhe, Germany. She was a director and actress, known for Gretchen hat ausgang (1933), Traum (Sueño) (1933) and Ringl and Pit (1995). She was married to Walter Auerbach. She died on July 29, 2004 in New York City, New York, USA.

Born in Germany, but later immigrated to Britain, and finally settled in the United States.

Avant-garde photographer during the liberal Weimar Republic in 1930s Germany.

While in her 20s she established a commercial photo studio Ringl & Pit. Although successful it was closed when Hitler came to power.
