Christopher Assells

After graduating High School in 1972 and spending 20 long weeks at Pierce Jr. College in Woodland Hills Chris Assells hit the road living for a time in Aspen Colorado and Florida before hitchhiking around and returning to California. He has worked as an electronic assembler, janitor, dishwasher, cook, gas station attendant, unloaded semis, delivered furniture, sold waterbeds and a few other things before starting a career in television and feature film sound editing and sound design. He has worked gigs in New York, London and every major studio in Hollywood and Burbank. Chris is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE). He has worked on five Oscar winning sound jobs, has won seven Golden Reel Awards and one lonely Emmy. Some of those awards were hard earned and some were "the right place at the right time" awards where he admittedly contributed little. He has been happily married since 1984 to the former Connee Jesse and has three now adult sons. He is happily retired, probably listening to "Pet Sounds" or "Giant Steps", considering micro-dosing, has no interest in Pro Tools updates and enjoys talking about himself in the third person.
