Biography

Alexander Asro was born on February 10, 1888 in Vilna, Russian Empire [now Vilnius, Lithuania]. He was an actor, known for Room Service (1938), The Ford Theatre Hour (1948) and Bashful Ballerina (1937). He was married to Sonia Asro. He died in January 1963 in Flushing, Queens, New York City, New York, USA.

An accomplished comedian performing in the Yiddish theater, Alexander Asro was a member of the Vilna Troupe, a collection of actors who performed throughout eastern Europe; after World War I, he moved first to London, and then emigrated to Brooklyn, New York, USA and became an American citizen in 1929.
