Biography

His father was an civil engineer. Semir studied at the All Union State institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow. He's a Director, actor, script writer, sculptor, painter and great cook. Currently working in Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Cinema as professor.

He has two sons already in the cinema world, the oldest one is a cinematographer educated in VGIK; the second one is an actor.

Born in Antioch in 1956, His father was an civil engineer. Mr. Aslanyurek studied for a BFA and MFA between 1979-1986 at the U.S.S.R. State Cinema Institute's Department of Film Direction. Since 1993, he has been continuing his academic work at Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty's Department of Film-TV. Mr. Aslanyurek speaks Russian and Arabic, and his writings have appeared in numerous journals and newspapers. He has also written and published a book on the theory of scriptwriting and translated a book on film editing into Turkish. He has two sons already in the cinema world, the oldest one is a cinematographer educated in VGIK; the second one is an actor.
