Kevin Asbell is the Chief Operating Officer for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association ("Association"), where he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Association's business operations. His portfolio includes staff management, parade development, event operations, strategic partnerships, community relations, and the maintenance of technology platforms. Additionally, Kevin handles all legal matters for the Association, including contract negotiation and drafting, and coordination with outside counsel as necessary.
Kevin also leads efforts in talent acquisition, special performance development and execution, and film production related to the Rose Parade®. He manages key relationships with the Association's broadcast and streaming partners to ensure high-quality delivery and visibility of its programming.
Kevin began his professional career in entertainment as an intern in the Business and Legal Affairs Department at Virgin Records and as a law clerk for the late Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. at his Los Angeles law firm. Inspired by his mentor, Michael E. Uslan, executive producer of the Batman franchise, Kevin pursued graduate studies in film to deepen his understanding of both the creative and business sides of the industry.
While in graduate film school, Kevin co-founded Treasure Entertainment, Inc., eventually serving as its Chief Operating Officer. After ten years successfully managing the company's operations, he began practicing corporate and entertainment law. He later accepted an in-house role as Corporate Counsel for Lucas Oil Products, Inc. ("Lucas Oil"), where he rose to become General Counsel for Lucas Oil and its subsidiaries, including:
Forrest Films (feature film division)
Lucas Oil Production Studios (in-house TV production)
Mav'rick Entertainment Network, Inc. ("MAVTV") (television network)
During his tenure, Kevin oversaw the production of thirteen feature films and numerous television projects. In the final two years of his time at MAVTV, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, a role he held until the closure of MAVTV's California office.
Kevin holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Indiana University, a Master of Fine Arts from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television (Producers Program), and a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. He is a member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
