Biography

Guel Arraes was born on December 12, 1953 in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. He is a director and writer, known for A Dog's Will (2000), Grande Sertão (2023) and Lisbela and the Prisoner (2003). He has been married to Carolina Jabor since 2003. He was previously married to Virginia Cavendish and Andrea Beltrão.

Son of Miguel Arraes.

Has a daughter with Virginia Cavendish named Luisa Arraes (b. August 16, 1993 in Rio de Janeiro).

Brother of José Almino (1924 - 1961), Ana Lúcia (b. 1947), Carlos Augusto (b. 1950), Marcos and Maurício (twins b. 1956), Carmen Sylvia (b. 1957) and Luiz Cláudio (b. 1959).

Half-brother (from his father second marriage to Maria Magdalena Fiuza) of Mariana (b. 1963) and Pedro (b. 1966).
