Will is a British citizen who lives permanently in Northern California near San Francisco. By the time he reached High School he had lived on 5 continents. He was born in Capetown, South Africa, lived in various towns in the UK during his childhood, and spent time living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Australia before moving to USA. His father was a surgeon who enjoyed the adventurous life, was raised in Rhodesia, learned to fly during his medical school at St. Andrews in Scotland, and was a flying doctor in Australia where he naturalized.
Will's nomadic upbringing fostered a quiet, observant eye to his constantly changing surroundings which likely explains his penchant for his own travel and adventures in the film business and early desires to make documentaries. Will began his career in New York City where he was a Dolly Grip in IATSE 52 and went on to become a Steadicam & Camera Operator in IATSE 600.
Will has an exceptional eye for lighting and composition. He has worked with some of the Industry's greatest Directors and Cinematographers. Mike Nichols, Sidney Lumet, Terrence Malick, Alfonzo Cuaron, David Fincher, Gus Van Sant, Ron Howard, David Ayer, Anthony Minghella, Frank Oz, Clint Eastwood, Darren Aronofsky, Woody Allen, Spike Lee, Chris Columbus, Ben Stiller. Will was nominated by his peers in the Society of Camera Operators (SOC) as Film Camera Operator of the Year on two occasions for his work as the A Camera Operator on Milk with Harris Savides and The Help with Stephen Goldblatt.
Will has been a lifelong athlete in many arenas. He has qualified and raced in 3 half Ironman World Championships, and received All American national ranking on multiple occasions. He was a kayaking instructor in college and has extreme (class V, VI) whitewater experience. He spent many years rock climbing at a high level, and continues his pursuit of the outdoors being a lifelong skier and seeks expeditions in remote locations via motorcycle and bicycle.
