Biography

Rod Argent was born on June 14, 1945 in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, UK. He is a composer and actor, known for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) and Titane (2021).

Keyboardist/songwriter with the 1960s band The Zombies and later Aster Argent.

Cousin of Jim Rodford.

His song "Hold Your Head Up" (which he co-wrote with Chris White) was covered by former Marillion singer Fish on his album "Songs From The Mirror" (released 1993).

His song "Baby Don't You Cry No More" was recorded by 'Anni-Frid Lyngstad' on her solo album "Something's Going On" (released in 1982).

I'd known Phil Collins for a while, and he came in and helped Aster Argent out on the "Counterpoints" album when our drummer Bob Henrit went down with hepatitis. We were both into a lot of the same jazzy stuff, like Chick Corea, and Phil used to play in a more experimental group, Brand X, when Genesis weren't touring or recording. I think Phil gets an incredibly bad press. He's an exceptional musician, an extraordinary drummer.
