Biography

Member of the Spanish pop band Los Brincos. He was together with his brother Luis in the musical band Los Estudiantes, considered to be the first pop-rock band in Spain. In this group he developed his composer abilities and also his percusionist abilities. When the band broke there were only 12 recorded songs, La Bamba (1960) and La Pulga (1964) among them. By that time, an ex-member of Los Estudiantes, Luis Sartorius, told him to form a musical band with elements and means used in foreign bands like The Beatles: The band Los Brincos was born.

Fernando was also a great classical composer. He composed the original music for the first Spanish Musical, La Maja De Goya. El Musical(opened 19th December 1996 at the New Apolo theater of Madrid and released on the Channel 29 of Miami the 25th of September 1997). The total soundtrack of this work was recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Henry Wood Hall (9th November 1996). In 1998 he recorded the first part of the Terra Santa Symphony with the LPO (July 1998). In 1999 he started The Anthem Of Life (Bethleem 2000) composition which paid tribute to the Palestinian People and was presented to Mr. Yasser Arafat in person by Fernando who handed over the 12.5% of the public performances to the Arabic Red Cross, was, as usual, recorded with the LPO (8th August 1999).

In 2002 he started the second part of the Terra Santa Symphony which was finished in May 2003, 2 months before his death. Alongside 2002 and 2003 Fernando started his last composition (Toledo's Concert aka Three Cultures Concert) which was recorded with the LPO at Phoenix Sound Studios the 8 & 9th of July 2003 only 3 days after his passing away, performed by the guitar soloist Jose Maria Gallardo who also composed the Cadenzas of the Symphony. Fernando Arbex rest in peace now after a whole life devoted to the music.
