- Nozomi Aoki was born on March 2, 1931 in Japan. He was a composer, known for Galaxy Express 999 (1979), Fist of the North Star (1984) and Future War 198X (1982). He died on February 20, 2026 in Japan.
- Aoki practiced the violin in his youth, but he had a curious personality and tried other instruments too: drums, the viola, the accordion, the Hammond organ, and the harpsichord. He stayed away from wind instruments, which he found did not suit him.
- Aoki came from a Christian family, and one of his earliest memories was singing hymns in church while his mother played the organ. This influenced him to become a musician.
- While attending the Tokyo Metropolitan Shinjuku High School, he was invited by an acquaintance to start playing in a band. He became so enchanted with performing on stage that he dropped out of school and made his debut as a professional musician at the age of 15. He continued to play in various bands until he began scoring for musicians and films/TV, which took up most of his time.
