Biography

Nelson Datu Anderson has had a life-long connection with cinema beginning as a child in the slums of Tondo Manila, where through his mother was introduced to the performances of Gloria Swanson "Sunset Boulevard", Montgomery Clift, and the films of Francois Truffaut. Migrating with his family to Los Angeles, as soon as he was physically able, he moved to New York City at 17 years old, Nelson dove into the vocation of acting in theater, working in a plethora of stage plays, television shows, and flicks, eventually branding himself as an action star in the land of his birth Manila. Where like Jackie Chan, he performed his own stunts. As much of a passion acting is, Nelson's primary ambition is to write, direct, and produce.

He's fortunate that Arthur Miller, Elia Kazan, Billy Wilder, Kenneth McMillan, and Uta Hagan became his mentors. Since forming ROK Films Nelson has directed short films and documentaries. One of his latest documentaries is Jack "Mr. Bongo" Costanzo "I'm Going to Live Till I Die". Also in development is a documentary on another legendary musician, Chet Baker in collaboration with Chet Baker's estate. Nelson also is in post-production on his documentary "Ugat Filipino-Filipino Roots," which weaves the history of the Phillippines with footage from a controversial art exhibit held at the L.A. City Hall.

Nelson is an activist and is committed to bettering his community and the world at large.
