- Abrar Alvi was born on July 1, 1927 in Ayodhya, India. He was a writer and actor, known for Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962), Janam Janam (1988) and This or That (1954). He died on November 18, 2009 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

- Only film he directed was Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam 1962.But its still believed that his mentor Guru Dutt played an important part in direction.
- He had a separate room at his residence where he would write his films.He would keep him him locked for three to four days to complete his scripts as he did not want any disturbance or calls.To serve him food and beverages during this period a rotating plate was kept in the room.
