- Boris Altshuler is a Soviet director and screenwriter of popular science and fiction films. Honored Artist of the Russian SFSR.
In 1924 Altshuler graduated from the State Institute of Words. He took part in the creation of scripts for the silent films Women of Ryazan (1927), Kogda zatsvetut polya (1929), Revansh (1931) and others. Since 1932 he participates in popular science cinema. One of the founders of Soviet educational cinema. He was co-author and director of the film courses 'Car' and 'Tractor'. He directed an educational series for teaching Russian to foreigners, a series of films about the education of actors at the Moscow Art Theater School and others. Since 1926 he taught at VGIK, and since 1963 he has directed a workshop for directing educational films. In 1962-68 he was the artistic director of the association of educational films 'Tsentrnauchfilm'. Author of film periodicals: 'Almanac of Film Travel', 'Science and Technology'.
