Mustafa Altıoklar is a Turkish filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, author and medical doctor based in Berlin, Germany. Since directing his first short film in 1989, he has built a filmmaking career spanning more than three decades, working across feature films, television drama, documentaries and literature.
His feature films include Istanbul Beneath My Wings (1996), Cholera Street (1997), He Is in the Army Now (2003), The Bathroom (2005) and Shattered Soul (2006). Throughout his career, he has explored the intersection of social and political realities with genre cinema, combining historical narratives, psychological drama, satire and visual experimentation.
Since relocating to Berlin in 2016, Altıoklar has continued his work as a filmmaker, educator and cultural organizer. He founded B’Act Academy, where he teaches acting, screenwriting and film directing while developing international film projects and supporting emerging artists.
Alongside his filmmaking career, he has also published books on screenwriting and fiction and continues to develop international film and educational projects.
His latest feature film, Gegen den Strom (Against the Stream), marks his first feature produced in Germany. Set in a near-future Berlin, the film explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, justice and human conscience through a dystopian chamber drama.
Originally trained as a medical doctor, Altıoklar’s interdisciplinary background has profoundly influenced his approach to character psychology, ethics and human behavior.
