He took part in the world premiere of Leoncavallo's Roland von Berlin (1904).

He studied at the Technical University in Lviv.

Alma was destined to be a technician, but because of his fondness for the theater decided to become a singer.

After resigning from the stage, he settled in Charlottenburg near Berlin.

As a student of W. Wysocki, he made his debut on October 1, 1878 in the Lvov department in the role of Lorenzo (Fra Diavolo).

Marian Alma is one of the pioneers of sound recording and probably had his voice recorded by producers as early as the late 1890s.

He probably died during the World War II in Berlin.

He was distinguished by a beautiful lyrical tenor. He sang tenor parts, incl. such as: Jontek (Halka), Manrico (Trubadur), Lionel (Marta), Hoffmann (Tales of Hoffmann), Stefan (The Haunted Manor). He then went abroad and performed in Vienna (1885, 1889), Prague (1885), Mainz (1888, 1889), Berlin (1889), Dusseldorf (1890-93), Wroclaw (1894), Magdeburg (1895) and again in Berlin, where he settled permanently and in 1895-1914 he belonged to the opera company.

Till 1914 he continued his career at the Berlin Court Opera. Then he was a singing teacher in the German capital.

His daughter Helene Alma was also active as a singer; she appeared about 1910 in Berlin, later in the USA.
