David Allan Coe was born on September 6, 1939 in Akron, Ohio, USA. He was an actor and composer, known for To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995), Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013) and The Outsiders (1983). He was married to Kimberly Hastings and Jody Lynn Benham. He died on April 29, 2026 in the United States.

Had 8 children. He was estranged from them all at the time of his death.
