(August 25, 1992) People's Artist of Russia.

She was named in honor of her maternal grandmother, who died at the age of 28.

She received the USSR State Prize (1981) in the field of art, for her role in Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears (1980).

From 2009, she co-operated with her husband, Vladimir Menshov, in an acting and directing workshop in VGIK.

Alentova fell ill during the funeral service for her colleague Anatoly Lobotsky. She was urgently carried out of the Vladimir Mayakovsky Moscow Academic Theater on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Her father, Valentin Bykov, died when she was four years old, after which her mother took her to Krivoy Rog, Ukrainian SSR.

Alentova was awarded with the Laureate of the IX Russian National Acting Prize named after Andrey Mironov 'Figaro' in St. Petersburg in the nomination 'For service to the Russian repertory theater'.

She served in the Pushkin Moscow Drama Theatre for 60 years, until the last day of her life.

Vera Alentova was an Academician of the Russian Academy of Film Arts.

She was a member of the Union of Theatre Workers and the Union of Cinematographers of Russia.
