Mini bio

  • César Alejandro began his career in theater. He was a member of Spanish Rep (Off-Broaway), and then INTAR (Off-Broadway) from 1985 to 1990. At that time, he realized that cinema was his calling, so he moved back to Mexico City and appeared in 10 Mexican films, including starring roles in El Amarrador I & II (the first screenplay he wrote and sold), and then Chicago Pandilla Salvaje I &. II. Right after this, he moved to El Paso, Texas, and founded Alexandria Films in 1992. He then produced-fifteen action films (only from his own scripts) in Spanish for the U.S. Hispanic and Mexican markets. After that, Alejandro then started producing films in English (still within the action film genre, but now for the world-wide film market), including Fatal Lottery, Without Limit, and Border Wars (which were shot in both: English and Spanish, and sold in 25 Countries). In 1998, he produced and directed his first Message Drama, in 35mm, for theatrical release: Down for the Barrio (also shot in both: English and Spanish versions) winner of the Cine Sol film festival. Back in 2006 he distributed theatrically his second message movie, shot on the Sony 900: Juarez: Stages of Fear (starring Chris Penn), and then his first comedy: Da Pinche Code (a spoof on independent filmmaking). His Immigration drama The Line that Divides, his 9th movie about the border in between The United States and Mexico (editing was finally finished on March 2019, but the movie was shot two years before), was selected by seven festivals in Europe and one in Mexico. César is a naturalized American Citizen (he was born and raised in Mexico and moved to the United States when he was 22). Back on 2009 he went back to college, and now has the degree of Master in Arts from the University of Texas at El Paso (César wanted to hone his writing skills, since English is his second language, with the idea of now becoming a literary writer), and as a result five of his short stories have already been published by various literary magazines, plus finally (2021): his first novel A Familial Story will be printed.
