Pasquale Aleardi

Overview

    June 1, 1971 · Zurich, Switzerland
  • Height
    6′ 2″ (1.88 m)

Mini bio

  • Pasquale Aleardi was born in 1971 near Zurich and trained at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) from 1992 to 1995. While still a student, he was cast in the lead role of the Swiss feature film "Jazz" (1993, dir. Daniel Helfer).

Following early stage success in Germany - including Arthur Miller's "The Big Bang" at the Berliner Theatertreffen (1996) - he shifted his focus increasingly to film and television.

His first leading role in a German feature came with "Nachts im Park" (2002, dir. Uwe Janson), followed by a breakout international appearance in RESIDENT EVIL (2002, dir. Paul W. S. Anderson) alongside Milla Jovovich.

In 2011, Aleardi was nominated for Best Actor at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival for "Schicksaljahre" (ZDF, dir. Miguel Alexandre). A major milestone came with his performance in the event mini-series "Gotthard" (2016), earning him the Swiss Television Award for Best Actor in 2017.

In 2019, he received a German Film Award (Lola) nomination for Best Supporting Actor for "Ich war noch niemals in New York" (dir. Philipp Stölzl).

To date, Aleardi has appeared in over 80 national and international productions across film, television, and musical theatre. Since 2014, he has starred in the long-running ARD crime series "Kommissar Dupin", broadcast in over 50 countries. In 2015, he fulfilled a lifelong dream performing as Billy Flynn in "Chicago" on Broadway.

In 2025, he was nominated for the "Prix Walo" - Switzerland's most prestigious entertainment award - as Best Actor.

Fluent in six languages, he divides his time between Zurich and Berlin. In addition to acting, music is his second passion. With his band "Pasquale Aleardi & Die Phonauten", he performs regularly, blending funk, soul, cabaret-style performance, and a distinct sense of irony. The trio playfully refers to their sound as "anti-depression music" - a celebration of life in full swing.
