Karen Akers was born on October 13, 1945 in New York City, New York, USA. She is an actress, known for The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), Vibes (1988) and Heartburn (1986). She has been married to Kevin Power since September 16, 1993. She was previously married to James Earl Akers.

Six-foot chanteuse, and Broadway veteran.

Nominated for Broadway's 1982 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role

• Musical) for "Nine."

Winner of the MAC Award for Lifetime Achievement (2002), by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, New York.

Younger sisters, Nicole Orth-Pallavicini and Terri Orth-Pallavicini, are also entertainers.
