Biography

Peggy was born in the Muswell Hill area of London and educated at Woodford Bridge School in Croydon, alongside fellow pupils Peggy Ashcroft and Diana Wynyard. On leaving school, she worked on a ladies magazine and taught speech and drama until the age of thirty, when she approached Croydon Repertory Theatre and asked to work back stage. She was taken on as an ASM and given small parts before moving on to work in rep in various parts of the country. She was offered Hadrian VII at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, which transferred to The Mermaid Theatre in London and then to The Haymarket , as well as films including Twinky with Trevor Howard. She was probably best remembered for being in the Midlands daily TV serial Crossroads which she joined in 1967. She stayed for nine months, then returned in 1970, She was unmarried.
